Denver/Colorado Springs to Taos Route

Take I-25 south toward Pueblo. South of Pueblo, take the Walsenburg exit which puts you on Colorado Highway 160. At Fort Garland, turn south (left) at the traffic light onto Highway 159. Travel through San Luis and then cross into New Mexico just north of Costilla. The Highway becomes New Mexico 522. Three miles north of Taos at the intersection of Highways 64, 522 and 150, continue straight. This becomes the main road through Taos. This way is about 45 minutes faster than I-25 to Raton and then Highway 64 to Taos. See directions to the inn on the Detailed Map of Taos. Approximate drive time from Denver: 5-1/2 hours. From Colorado Springs, 4-1/2 hours. From Pueblo, 3 hours.
